Ashton Keynes CE Primary launches new sport – Quidditch!
We embraced the Harry Potter theme and welcomed two fellow Muggles (non- magical beings in case you don’t know!) into our school for an amazing Quidditch experience day to launch the sport. The children absolutely loved it and the staff too! This was evident in the smiles, giggles during the day and what the children told us afterwards, they cannot wait to play again! Starting with an assembly where House Captains tried on the Sorting Hat to be put into Harry Potter houses, the children then had age specific workshops. Class teachers dressed as the Golden Snitch and were chased by the teams to capture them and score points for their house! We will have a specific staff training session at the start of December, after which, we have all the equipment ready to make this part of our PE at AKPS, enabling all children to learn this new sport and enjoy playing it. We will be proud to be one of the only schools in the region offering this incredible sport! It is a mixture of dodgeball and tag rugby all mixed together with a sprinkling of Harry Potter creativity and magic.
